You have permission to eat a lobster

You have permission to eat a lobster.

Not really much else to say—@littlepondfaerie hit the nail on the head.

What I will say before I go off to a wedding (currently typing in the lounge of a very cute country club in Rhode Island—the Ocean State if you didn't know!) is that I have been working on a FREE offering for my actor community! Woo!!

Or really, for anyone who is curious. I personally think it can be helpful to anyone. :)

So, I've decided to give you all a sneak peak before the official launch next week! I've included it below. It felt in theme.

I hope you all enjoy!!

A Guide for Actors Who Are F***ing Exhausted

The One Where You Stop Trying to Fix Yourself.

As actors, we are trained to do, right?

Do the research, do the script analysis, do the self-tape, do a vocal warm-up, do the emotional prep, eat right, workout, sign up for workshops, do three plays at the same time and get paid for them in Domino’s pizza.

We are even taught that acting is all about ACTIONS. Wild. Always be doing. Always know WHAT you’re doing? What are you “doing” in the scene? Do, do, do.

And what do most of us do when we feel anxious, burnt out, or overwhelmed from all the doing?

Find MORE things to do!

Whether it’s meditation, seeing two therapists at the same time, or taking yet another acting class where the teacher tells you that you aren’t “doing the scene right”, it feels never ending.

In Organic Intelligence® (OI), we look at your physiology through a completely different lens. The reality is, you’ve probably already done all the work–and then some. You don’t need another task to perform, class to take, or mindfulness retreat to go on. And deep down, you probably agree.

Your body isn't broken. Quite the opposite: it’s been working 24/7 to support you all along.

Instead of something else for your to-do list, I have a few simple offerings for you; an invitation to allow your system some possible moments of relief…

TO BE CONTINUED...

*dun dun DUUUUUUUNNNNN*

More to come next week!! Now I'm gonna go be a person and eat a lobster or something...or is that more of a Maine thing? I hear they got lots of pine trees....🦞🌲

I'm f***ing exhausted from making this FREE OFFERING! Did I say I was going to send this tomorrow? Yes.Am I being a bit impulsive? Yes.Will I probably find a teeny flaw or two and immediately say to myself, "RACHEL THIS IS WHY YOU SHOULD HAVE WAITED"? Yes. BUT I have a One Piece Card Game tournament tomorrow and I gotta save my energy (and I'm just impatient and excited), so HERE IT IS A DAY EARLY! *confetti flies everywhere* Even if you're f***ing exhausted and not an actor, or an actor who...

Sock Puppets, Time, and Not Doing Enough Art by Sarah Anderson Guess where I was last week instead of writing my next newsletter to you all? In my bed. Curled up like a little gremlin. I crashed. Hard. My brain no longer formed thoughts. I was a blob. A gremlin, hermit, blob of a creature. And once again I am asking myself: why did I crash so hard? Why could I do nothing but binge shows about a girl who loves poison in feudal china, witches with a furry friend that looks like a cozy white...

Abnormally Long Acorns, Forest Elves, and Costco Art by Laurel Greenfield So, I’m currently sitting in the Glendora Costco parking lot. The sun is shining, the lot is huge, and I swear I can smell a hint of a chicken bake in the distance. Let me start by saying: it’s fucking incredible. But that may or may not be the point of this tale. Recently, I’ve been waking up in the mornings stressed—or at least slightly stressed out—about all the work I didn’t get done the day before. And then, since...
